⚛MEDIA FASHION⚛

Although its nature is ever changing, the fashion world is only just starting to evolve.
In the past few years there have been countless site relaunches, and digital campaigns are
starting to see the light of day.
It seems that companies are only just starting to cash in on these endeavours.
Things such as social networking (ie the various PR Girl twitter accounts, as well as facebook pages),
celebrity endorsements, tech savvy websites and digital campaigns are all ways luxury brands are proving their prominence within society.
However, who are the focus group of this media, in the age of internet?
Who is most likely to be receptive to this advertisement?
Most importantly, is the target group able to afford their products?
Not everybody reads Vogue or I-D (both different audiences), but most people
do have access to social media. No matter what, the reason behind this is the image of the brand.
But i am curious to know, why does brand image matter to the masses?
Why does Burberry, Louis Vuitton, Dior etc, want me to be aware of their newest collection,
or their latest ad campaign? Does this "cheapen" the brand, or is it a constant reminder
to the middle and lower classes what they can't have?

I guess what the brands are targeting here is not sale of their clothing lines (which they ruthlessly advertise) but the sale of their perfume, sunglasses, collaboration lines, underwear lines, jean brands, key chains and other cheaper items which have their name on it. These are more accessible to the middle and lower classes than anything they will present out on the catwalk, and generate quite a profit. People don't buy these cheaper items for a need, they buy them for the want of being associated with a coveted brand. Hence, prominence on social media will fuel these sales with the help of their target audiences.

OK the BBC have done a great documentary which you can view here
It is about the economics in fashion, and although it is dated i think still quite relevant.

I know these are all basic concepts but i'm educating myself about these topics more because i'm interested in it. Bare with me!

have you ever ran around an empty cinema

well i can say i have now
me and my 2 friends went in early and it was absolutely deserted so we went crazy
there is actually a ridiculous amount of space between the screen and the front rows
we went and looked at the screen and actually TOUCHED it (it was this weird soft canvas stuff) and there are these little hidey holes on either side of it and it was just so cool
 the insole of my vans
 me in the mirror
popcorn (my mouth is still dry from it)
 frozen sprite (sososososgood)
 sour blueberry lollie
 the screeen
my feet (did i mention we dominated a solid row [the best seats] not only in our row of seats but on the side bits as well!!!!)
 upclose of the movie screen
you can sort of see people running around
stuff in the hidey holes

On another note i would give the Hunger Games a 7.3/10. I feel like there was so much left unexplained but i do understand it would be impossible to go into that much detail (as my friend was telling me EVERYTHING they missed out) and they foreshadowed SO MUCH. I guessed the whole plot of it within the first 10 minutes but whatever. I think i'll read the books. Just the whole concept of that society interests me and i love it when books do that whole ""oppressive"" society but it's kind of to save themselves from repression (that doesnt make sense but yeah)

ok well
yes
bye

~-+-~

im going to see the hunger games with my friends (yes i have some suprising isnt it)

my faithful watch which i either wear constantly or not for 6 months and then find it in the pockets of my car. i am also wearing the dress that i wear when i have no idea what to wear.
my suede vans - they are so cool the insoles are leopard print and are limited edition or whatever so, well, i like how they are different to just normal black vans you know. i like wearing them with white socks because it makes them seem more schooley or whatever which i am STILL into

ashish

minnie mouse stickers stolen from my littler sister \m/

wow i am an embarrassment all the time

yes anyway i hope it is a good movie i havent actually read the books but everyone insists (violently) that i should but i have so many other books i need to read including tallow (by karen brooks) and marie antoinette: the journey (by antonia fraser), and i just really havent had a chance to do it. i had a philosophy exam today and it wasnt that hard which was good (i made flash cards and studied that's a first [albeit studying in the period before the exam] i am learning yay)
